As the Country Head of the Chartered Institute for Business Accountants (CIBA) in Namibia and President of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Namibia Chapter, the nominee has been at the forefront of advocacy, education, and implementation of best practices in governance and fraud risk management. Through these leadership roles, they have designed and delivered capacity-building programs, supported legislative reform discussions. Over the past two years, the nominee has delivered measurable impact in the areas of governance reform, risk management, and regulatory compliance, both at institutional and national levels. Their accomplishments reflect a balance of technical expertise, thought leadership, and advocacy for stronger governance ecosystems.

1. Governance & Board Advisory Excellence

  • Advised multiple boards and shareholder groups on compliance with the Namibian Companies Act, particularly in the areas of fiduciary duties, director removals, shareholder protections, and conflict of interest management.

  • Successfully guided organizations through complex shareholder disputes, ensuring adherence to governance principles and protecting minority shareholder rights.

2. Strengthening Risk & Compliance Frameworks

  • Designed and implemented AML/CFT risk-based frameworks, compliance manuals, suspicious transaction reporting processes, and internal control policies, ensuring alignment with FIC, PACOTPA, and POCA requirements.

  • Assisted organizations in avoiding regulatory sanctions through proactive compliance audits and remediation strategies, directly reducing exposure to penalties and reputational damage.

3. Anti-Fraud & Forensic Leadership

  • As President of the ACFE Namibia Chapter, established the foundation for professional training and certification pathways in fraud examination, with the first corporate and university partnerships now in place.

  • Provided forensic accounting and fraud risk management support in high-profile corporate cases, identifying irregularities and helping organizations strengthen their internal controls.

4. Capacity Building & Professional Development

  • Spearheaded CPD initiatives for CIBA Namibia, delivering training on governance, tax compliance, and risk management to hundreds of professionals annually.

  • Introduced practical toolkits, webinars, and case studies that have enhanced the professional competence of accountants, auditors, compliance officers, and forensic practitioners across the region.

5. Legislative & Regulatory Advocacy

  • Actively engaged with national regulators ie, BIPA to provide input on policy reforms, ensuring that regulatory frameworks remain effective, proportionate, and business-friendly.

  • Advocated for a stronger alignment between local laws and international governance, risk, and compliance standards, positioning Namibia as a regional leader in compliance innovation.
